Nakhon Pathom

Nakhon Pathon is a small province only 56km from Bangkok City.  The province is well known for the ancient religious structure ' Phra Pathom Chedi ' which was the first religious landmark to signify Buddhism in Thailand.  It is thought to be the oldest city in Thailand.  The province also produces vast amounts of fruits from it many orchards.

The province is divided into 7 districts and has over 900 villages.  Nakhon Pathom has one of the main Royal Temples ' Wat Phra Pathom Chedi Ratchaworaviharn' which has the biggest pagoda in Thailand and well worth a visit if travelling here.  Other places to visit are the National Museum, Phutthamonthon which is a large park devoted to Buddhism and the canal boat trip/tours which take you to the beautiful fruit orchards.
